Love is in the air!

Can you feel it?… the silly season is well and truly over, we are so far back into routine that holidays are nothing but a distant memory and although the supermarkets are trying their hardest to sell us easter eggs and hot cross buns, it’s not what I am talking about. There is something special in air.. A warm fuzzy feeling. Its February people and that special day that lands on the 14th of this month is fast approaching.

“Valentine’s Day”

Now now now.. I can hear you all protesting from here, “Valentine’s Day is just a made up day to boost retail and to raise awareness of all the single people out there”.. I understand these arguments and I know that it is a day that is loathed as much as it is loved, however there is something fun about a day where love is expressed openly (there should be more of it I say!).

My other half and I don’t do anything elaborate for Valentine’s Day, nor do we exchange gifts (well not since he “accidentally” bought me the wrong type of gold fish!) but we always write each other something sweet, exchange a kiss and share a beautiful dinner together.

For me the real excitement of  Valentine’s Day is the excuse to get creative and whip up some sweet creations and soppy cards to share with my friends and family. I think nothing says I love you more than a handmade gift. To get you all inspired and excited, here are some of my Valentine’s Day creations from a few years back. The original red velvet cupcake design and template is from my sweet idol Bakerella and the cake pops are the result of some fun I had with a few of the many sprinkles I have collected from my favourite cake decorating store Glasshouse Cakes and Supplies.

Now that you are all in the mood I am so excited to tell you that I am currently working on a simple and fun project for you all to have a go at this Valentine’s Day. I think you are going to love it!…..want a sneak peak??

Ok. Just this once…

Thats all I am going to tell you for the moment! Check back here later in the week for the full post on a fun Valentine’s Day project that you are not going to want to miss!

Lots of love
